My name is Ben McGuire and I am the new AIEO (Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer) at East Beechboro Primary School.

Some background about me. I have worked at UWA Sport for 2 years before getting involved in education. My passion is sport and empowering our Aboriginal youth to achieve great things and also allow them to become our next leaders.

Please feel free to contact me via email benjamin.mcguire@education.wa.edu.au or call 6216 1900 Thursdays and Fridays during school hours. I look forward to working with you and supporting your child’s learning.

COVID-19 Vaccination

Aboriginal Family Day COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic - Saturday 4th September 9am to 3pm at the new Midland community clinic. All Aboriginal people are encouraged to please come down and get vaccinated.

Derbarl Yerrigan will be onsite to discuss any questions and even if people don’t have an ID or Medicare card they can still get vaccinated- so no appointment and no ID is necessary.

Everyone over 12 years of age is welcome to get vaccinated (12 – 15 need an adult to accompany them).

Also Aboriginal personality Mary G and leading Australian paediatric physician, Dr Jonathan Carapetis caught up and had a yarn about the COVID vaccine. If you would like to listen and share the interview now, it can be found at COVID-19 resources for Aboriginal people (healthywa.wa.gov.au)
