COVID-19 - Current School Procedures

The safety and wellbeing of students, staff and families is our main priority and to ensure this, we are continuing with some processes from last year. Please note that all school measures will be informed by the direction of the Department of Education and the Department of Health.

We are keeping our school safe by:

  • Ensuring we have mask supplies for staff and students (if required).
  • Increasing ventilation in all classrooms. Use of fresh air and well-ventilated spaces where possible. Air filtration systems have been installed where required.
  • Advising staff and students to stay home when sick.
  • Avoiding unnecessary physical contact.
  • Ensuring we have enhanced cleaning services and supplies.
  • Having adequate soap and hand sanitiser.

From 29th April 2022:

  • mask-wearing will no longer be mandatory at schools
  • close contacts of positive cases will only be required to isolate if they are symptomatic but will be required to wear a mask and take a daily RAT
  • assemblies and similar gatherings will be able to recommence as normal
  • parents will be allowed back into classrooms.

From 10th June 2022, the change to the mandatory vaccination policy takes effect. For schools this means that staff in schools no longer need to be vaccinated. It also means that visitors to the school (parents and carers, volunteers, third party providers and contractors) are not required to be vaccinated to enter the school.

A reminder that students who are household contacts can still attend school if they are asymptomatic, take daily RATS and test negative. Although no longer mandatory, parents are encouraged to have their child wear a mask if they are a household contact.

Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell as they may spread their infection. Students should rest at home to recover and should their symptoms not resolve in a few days, please contact your GP.

Please note that the easing of restrictions does not mean that the pandemic is over. It is essential that we all to continue to follow health advice and COVID-19 safe protocols.

Parents and carers who visit our school are asked to please:

  • use hand sanitiser
  • maintain a physical distance of 1.5m from other parents
  • avoid unnecessary physical contact with children other than your own.

Previous measures that will continue include:

  • Students will be reminded of good hygiene practices
  • Water Fountains should only be used for refilling bottles. Students must bring water bottles to school each day.
  • Drop off and Pick Up Areas - Parents are strongly encouraged to continue to promote the independence of students by dropping off and picking up at designated gates. This also assists with congestion around the school.

Kindy & Pre-Primary: Gate situated next to Kindy classes (Bray Place)

Years 1 & 2: Gate at the front of the school (Brockmill Ave)

Years 3, 4, 5 & 6: Gate at the back of the school next to the basketball court. (Maguire Ave)

Students Who Are Unwell

To assist us further in ensuring that we are best managing the health and well-being of all members of our community, parents are asked to please understand that if your child is unwell and presenting with symptoms of illness (including cold symptoms), they should not attend school.  Students who present with these symptoms during the day will be sent to the office and parents will be called to come and collect them.

We are continually reviewing our operations and any changes we may implement will be based on government advice and the health and well-being of our students and community as a whole.
